This series of 8 books is a very thorough record of Winston Churchill's life. Using only the most authoritative sources and voluminous end notes, the reader will get a true picture of what the great man's thoughts were during the most formative crises of the age. It can be a daunting read, and certainly not to be tackled in one setting, but meant to be slowly digested as the subject matures and evolves. There are many "privileged glimpses" of Churchill's private life, and you cannot come away not having learned a lot that you didn't previously know. A very worthwhile (if time-consuming) read in its entirety, but a must-have for the serious student of history.
