This is my first book by these authors. I had been looking for books where one of the MCs is bi and this book was #1 on the list. It sounded great so I downloaded it and started it. It started out amazing. The writing is excellent. The dialogue is intelligent and fun and I'm a sucker for intelligent fun dialogue. 😂I was totally in love with Asher. I wanted to keep him for myself. But then Kole came along. At first I thought it was going to be OK but I decided his character was just OK. I didn't get the attraction between the two. Friends? Sure thing. Lovers? Nopppe. I was a little disappointed in that pairing but I thought maybe it would heat up. Unfortunately, I didn't stick around to see that happen.I have a pet peeve or 10. LOL. One of my pet peeves is when an author creates a world with an unrealistic amount of a certain thing. In this case, nearly everyone in the book is LGBTQ. Unless it's an actual LGBTQ exclusive college, statistically in 2021 there will not be that many out hockey players all on the same team! It's difficult enough of a decision for one, but a half dozen all playing for one darn team? Of course all of their friends are LGBTQ, too. Creating this out of balance fictitious world weakens the integrity of the story and turns it into a TV show like QAF but set 10 years or more in the future when it really will be (fingers crossed or whatever) commonplace. We can call it Queer as Puck? Something like that. I don't know. LOL.So, authors, it is not necessary to make every book you write into a series unless you are going to write about all sexual orientations in a realistic manner. Yes, it's fiction but even fiction needs to be close enough to the truth to be believable in order to work.Sadly, I got to 35% and I couldn't go on. I am going to see if either of these authors have true standalones that I can read. I really did love the first few chapters and I would love to read something by these authors. I am sure they can write an amazing story.For now I'm giving this ebook two stars but I absolutely recommend it to those who don't have an issues with these awesome authors. Thank you.
